Sorry for the long absence. You can always tell when big changes happen in my life by the long drought of posts. Didn't think I had anything to post, but today looking around the home I realized that I had been slowly accumulating a number of bits and pieces of progress work. Some of the pieces I've posted on twitter, and one or two I'm posting in full here. Anyway, what better way to get back on the horse then to post some progress.
The first paintings were simple exercises to speed up my painting. Starting with two hours painting time (full palette) and working down to one hour or less of painting time (limited palette).
The second is a finished painting for a friend. Its the first time that I've painted for someone else, which definitely put a different spin on the process for me. I'm looking into the possibility of making prints from the painting, but I still have more research to do.
The last few paintings, aside from the lone apple, are fast design/value/composition studies painted in a Colour Theory in Painting class that I am taking from Keita Morimoto at Avenue Road Arts School. The class has really forced me to break down my thought process and painting to move in a different direction. I'm really looking forward to seeing how my painting evolves after this class. Its going to pretty different I think. I would highly suggest taking this class if you get the chance to take it, Keita is a great teacher who is very generous with his knowledge.
