Photos From Huangshan - Part 2

So...it looks like I lied and I am not going to able to get the Huangshan post done in two parts. I'll be posting a third part to the Huangshan photo segment. The good news is that I have saved the best for last. The only photos left to be processed and posted are from the sunset over Huangshan, so be on the look out.

Here is part two of the photos from Huangshan:

Final Layout Assignment - Winter Term 09

From final layout

Above is the piece I submitted for my final layout assignment this past term. It has not changed much since the earlier "Update on layouts" posting, but I have made some subtle changes based on the advice of my teacher to achieve the proper sense of depth. I have also included some earlier concepts and progression shots (below) that I took to capture the progression that lead to the final stage of the layout.

Photos From Huangshan - Part 1

Looks like I'm going to have to break the Huangshan post into two parts...there are just way too many photos to go through and not enough time.

Beijing highlights

I am back home, safe and sound, and ready to get back into the swing of things. My whole trip was pretty awesome. After my previous blog post, I went and explored Japan, well, really I only explore Tokyo and Kyoto (plus a day trip to Nara), but I feel that what I explored was enough to give me a nice feel for Japan, i.e. what it has to offer, the Japanese people, and the Japanese culture. I would have to say that the highlight of my Japan trip was looking out over Kyoto from one of the surrounding hills and watching the sunset (I got some great photos from here), that and the sushi breakfast I had in the Tokyo fish market (to put the quality of the sushi I had into perspective I'll use the words of the guy who was sitting beside me at the restaurant, "before this moment, its like I have never eaten sushi before").

I have been spending my time at home trying to slowly get back into things, one of the biggest tasks has been trying to edit and process all the photos I took on this trip...sometimes I miss using film cameras for this very reason. Long story short, I'm going to uploading my photos in segments. My first segment will be photos from Beijing...and....here they are...

Quick Asia Update

Hey everyone, so I figured this would be the best way to get word out that I am back from my trip to China and I am currently unwinding in Hong Kong. First of all, I would like to declare that I have come away from China with both my kidneys still in my possession, so automatically this makes for a successful and awesome first solo trip to China. All kidding aside, I found my trip to China to be quite eye opening to all the things that are happening in the country and has educated me and corrected some of the misunderstandings that I had prior to the trip (mind you, some of my preconceived notions about China were also found to be quite valid). Anyway, I have to keep this short. I have taken A LOT of pictures and will be happy to share them with you all as soon as I get back to Toronto. Below I will post a few teaser photos of my comings and goings in China.

From China Teaser
The most important photo of this trip will have to be the above one. These are the Xiaolongbao (Shanghai-nese soup dumplings) that I was greatly anticipating when I visited Shanghai. Had to wait 40 minutes in line to get them, but well worth it as they only cost 12 RMB ($2.40 CDN) for 24 dumplings.

From China Teaser
As you can see by this photo, I definitely think they are worth it.

Sadly, they are gone just as quickly as they arrived, but I will definitely have great memories of them.

This was a sunset over Beijing.

This is a photo to document my trek along the Great Wall of China. It truly is amazing to see the sheer scale of this thing.

Another Great Wall photo. The surrounding landscape was absolutely beautiful.

Lastly, another awesome thing to see was Huangshan (there will be a lot of photos from this place).
