Life Drawing Marathon - January 17, 2009

In an attempt to get back into things with life drawing I participated in the life drawing marathon going on at Seneca @ York this weekend. I had some fun and was able to pull off a few drawings I'm happy with (pictured below).

out of the 14 pic album

I really like 3, 11 and 12 the most

and the way you indicated the ribs on number 8

I tried markers too but I ended up sniffing the thing more times than I drew with it..

on a serious note, what I did was pick my lines same as I do with charcoal (sometimes when I really think about shit before I draw..lol) just because marker stays too dark unlike conte/charcoal where you can still go over it

that 11 is looks fuckin cool btw.. I really like that one

Thanks.

The 9th drawing is my favorite out of the 14 drawings. Its my favorite probably because I had the most fun while I was drawing it. I had forgotten how much fun it was to draw with different mediums. Drawing with conte for so long was probably one of the reasons why my development has felt so stagnant. Drawing with the wide marker forced me to approach the drawing from a different perspective. For the ink drawings I focused on the general shapes created by the darkest shadows rather than getting trapped in trying to capture any subtle details that appear in the figure ( which is a bad habit I have during short poses ).
