Here are some life drawings I completed over the last couple of days. I am still stuggling to find my line work and my eye for proportions, but I am happy with progress that I have been making. At the very least the flow has remained since rediscovering it last week.

Here is the final version of my digital tools assignment before I hand it in. I cannot spend any more time on this because of my other assignments. Its unfortunate because I had a fun time getting back into the digital painting.

Digital Tools Assignment 1 - Empty Earth Layout and Paint - IN PROGRESS (UPDATED)

Here is a digital painting that I am in the middle of for my digital tools assignment. The premise of the assignment was to create a layout based on a photo of a Toronto street that would depict the a Earth as if all human life had been extinguished and hundreds of years have passed. The other requirement was to have a streetcar in the mid ground that displayed the TTC logo.

Here is my Jekyll to Hyde transformation from first year. The assignment was to create our own version of a Dr. Jekyll to Hyde transformation. My back story involved a Pathologist who is infected with the Marburg virus while studying the virus. As a desperate measure the Pathologist attempts to create a cure from the antibodies of a bat (who have have been found to be immune to the virus). As an accidental result of this cure, the pathologist is transformed into a man-bat creature Hyde.

Looking back at this assignment is pretty hard. At the end of first year, I actually spent A LOT of time on this, but never got the outcome or payoff that I had hoped for. I ended up over working the designs and was left with too little time to complete the clean and colour versions. If I get the chance I hope to revisit this one day and do it right.

I have highlighted a few of the poses I was happy with.

Meow Assignment

Just completed my first animation for second year of animation. For this assignment we were required to animate a provided character saying "MEOW". As expected, I am very rusty from having the entire summer off from animating, so there was a bit of a struggle with this assignment. Overall it turned out pretty well, but there are a couple of things that I was not able to resolve when the deadline passed for this assignment. The character does not transition well from the "-AH" mouth postition to the "-OU" mouth position and I was not able to complete a proper "settle" for the character after it completes the action.

Here is my first assignment for my character design class that I submitted on Tuesday. The assignment required us to clean, colour, and create a new pose for a provided character design (designed by my prof, Jim Graves). The first image was was provided to us and we were required to clean and colour it. The second image is of the same character in a new pose that I was required to create, draw, clean and colour.

Life Drawing - Sept 17, 2008

I found I had a break through yesterday with a life drawing session in my life drawing class. I feel like I found my flow again. I was able to tune out my mind and just feel my drawing again. It was a nice feeling.

Life Drawing - Sept 10 - Sept 15

Here are some life drawings that I completed. Over the summer I have been struggling with my life drawing A LOT. I'm not sure what has happened to cause this but I can only best describe it as being a batter or golfer with a kink in my swing. Given that, I now feel like I am over thinking when I draw and I am now struggling to find my rhythm and flow when I draw. ( I will be posting some of my life drawings from the summer, so you can see what I mean)
